Legal Engineering & Applied AI•US Remote•Part-Time

Fellowship Program (Spring 2027)

Travel: Remote position; optional quarterly offsites.

About Luminos.AI

You build the agent. We build the eval.

Every team shipping AI faces the same question: will it do what it’s supposed to do? Some call the answer evals. Others call it Quality Assurance (QA). Whatever the name, knowing your agent or chatbot will behave as intended is the difference between a demo and a product people trust. That’s the problem we solve.

Describe your AI system in plain text, and Luminos.AI turns it into an actionable QA profile with a custom constitution built for our Constitutional AI / LLM-as-a-judge evaluation harness. No test suite to write from scratch. No guesswork about what to measure.

Customers connect through our UI, our API, or native OpenTelemetry instrumentation. From there, we run point-in-time and continuous evaluations calibrated to each use case and quality standard. Our customers range from individual citizen developers and product teams to enterprise QA organizations.

Position Overview

This Fellowship is for a top-tier law student (or recent grad) with a technical bent who wants to work at the frontier of AI agent oversight and risk evaluation — not read about it after the fact. You’ll work directly with senior lawyers and engineers, embedded in the actual work of figuring out how to test, evaluate, and govern systems that are changing every quarter.

If you’re excited by law and technology, curious rather than cautious about new tools, and want to help build the evaluation frameworks that will define how AI agents get deployed safely at scale — this is that role.

What You’ll Do

  • Design Rigorous Evals: Research and help design rigorous testing and evaluation approaches for generative and agentic AI systems, translating fast-moving legal and regulatory requirements into concrete, testable standards.
  • Monitor Regulatory Standards: Track the global AI regulatory landscape as it evolves in real time and translate it into practical, automated guardrails and constitutional prompts.
  • Draft Practical Frameworks: Draft frameworks, workflows, and risk assessments that hold up under real deployment conditions across enterprise environments.
  • Partner with Technical Teams: Partner closely with our engineering and data science teams — comfort around code, models, or data is a real asset here. Fellows with technical skills who want to spend part of their time working directly with the engineering team are encouraged to do so.

Who You Are

  • Currently pursuing a JD (or a recent graduate) from an accredited law program.
  • Excellent researcher and writer, comfortable applying existing law and risk principles to genuinely new technical situations.
  • Genuinely enthusiastic about AI and willing to learn the technical details, not just the legal headlines.
  • Bonus Points: Coding ability (Python, JavaScript), ML/GenAI exposure, or background in privacy, cybersecurity, copyright, or data governance law.

Why Join Luminos.AI?

  • Front-Row Seat: Tackle the hardest legal and alignment problems in AI at a company founded by pioneers who have built unicorns, elite law firms, and global AI governance programs.
  • Direct Mentorship: Learn directly from senior legal, ML, and product leadership.
  • Real Industry Impact: Your work directly shapes how enterprise customers safely deploy AI agents into production.
  • Flexible Compensation: $35/hour, remote, part-time, flexible 3–6 month term.
