Join our innovative team dedicated to advancing the frontiers of AI risk management. At Luminos.AI, we develop software and AI systems to assist in the training and monitoring of other AI technologies, helping customers to ensure their systems operate within appropriate legal and regulatory boundaries. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated AI/ML Researcher to join our research team. In this pivotal role, you will focus on creating and refining AI systems tasked with training and overseeing other AI platforms. You will also develop sophisticated tools and methodologies to analyze AI/ML outputs for potential legal risks and compliance issues, helping our customers ensure that their AI solutions adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI systems that train, tune, and govern other AI models.
• Develop algorithms and models to assess and mitigate legal risks in AI outputs, focusing on compliance with laws and regulations.
• Conduct research on emerging AI technologies and propose innovative solutions to enhance their governability.
• Publish findings and represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, and seminars.

Qualifications:

‍

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing and developing AI/ML systems, particularly in autonomous AI governance or legal risk assessment.
• Strong programming skills in Python, or similar languages, and familiarity with training and adapting generative AI systems.
• Possess an understanding of data privacy laws, ethical AI principles, and regulatory environments.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Skills:

‍

• Experience with both generative AI and more traditional AI/ML systems.
• Background in ethics or law, especially pertaining to technology and digital rights.
• Publications or contributions to research in AI governance, legal risk mitigation, or related fields.

*  This is a US-based remote position. Travel may be required on a roughly bi-monthly basis to collaborate with other team members. Preference may be given to candidates in one of our targeted metropolitan areas, currently Washington, DC and Columbus, OH. Employees within our targeted metropolitan areas are encouraged to co-work frequently with other team members and may be required to meet to collaborate with other team members on a roughly bi-weekly basis.
