Position Overview

Join our innovative team dedicated to advancing the frontiers of AI risk management. At Luminos.AI, we develop software and AI systems to assist in the monitoring of other AI technologies, helping customers to ensure their systems operate within appropriate legal and regulatory boundaries. We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Data Scientist to join our research team. In this pivotal role, you will focus on our customer-facing AI systems and the evaluation framework for them. You will develop sophisticated tools and methodologies to analyze AI/ML outputs and run experiments to measure and improve performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement AI systems that train, tune, and govern other AI models.
  • Design and implement evaluation frameworks for AI systems.
  • Develop algorithms and models to assess and mitigate legal risks in AI outputs, focusing on compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Conduct research on emerging AI technologies and propose innovative solutions to enhance their governability.
  • Publish findings and represent the company at industry conferences, workshops, and seminars.
  • Work with customers to mitigate issues in both their traditional ML systems as well as their generative AI systems.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, AI/ML, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in quantitative analysis of complex problems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, or similar languages, including the use of modern Python type hinting and aysnchronous programming.
  • Possess an understanding of or passion to learn data privacy laws, ethical AI principles, and regulatory environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with both generative AI and more traditional AI/ML systems.
  • Experience writing production-quality Python code especially in the context of web services and client libraries.
  • Experience with strongly typed Python data structures leveraging typed Dicts and/or Pydantic.
  • Experience with GenAI system prompts, model execution, model fine-tuning, and model distillation.
  • Experience with common GenAI Python Libraries.
